Uncovering the Secrets of Super Mario Bros. 3 World 5-1

Outside, none of the question blocks contain anything but Coins in Super Mario Bros. 3's World 5-1. However, there is a pipe nearby that leads to the Goal Panel, which is worth exploring. The jutting block has a power-up that can be used to break the blocks and gain access to the large question block containing three 1-Ups.

Upon spotting a pipe, Mario can duck into it to unlock a secret room. Inside the pipe, there are plenty of slopes and Goombas for Mario to slide on. To reach the upper route, Mario must jump on the Jump Blocks and hop on the blocks to get to the pipe guarded by two Koopas, which need to be disposed of.

Falling down will give Mario the lower route, while bouncing along the Note Blocks and climbing a block staircase will provide access to the upper route. After entering the pipe, Mario falls down a path and lands on a Music Note Block, starting his journey through this secret level.

The level begins with a small area containing one pipe. Once Mario enters the pipe, he can fly up and reveal a P-Switch by pressing it, causing two giant numeral 3's made of coins to appear. This is a reference to the game's title (Super Mario Bros. 3).

There is another pipe exit that Mario can use to gather four 1-Ups. Additionally, the Nipper Plants in this level can only be defeated by a swipe from Raccoon Mario's tail.

Alternatively, if Mario has a P-Wing, he can enter a pipe and fly through narrow corridors to obtain a Music Box. There are no special secrets apart from the Starman hidden in a long row of question blocks. The second pipe guards another power-up.

On the brick formation, the wooden block contains a power-up, and there is a Chain Chomp to the left that is somewhat prominent in the level. This world starts with a Buster Beetle running toward Mario, which can be defeated by grabbing the throw block and throwing it at Mario.
